What’s the minimum age for the ropes park?
At the Hirschenkogel ropes park everyone aged 6 and up and from a height of 110 cm can climb.
Can children use the mountain carts?
Children from a height of 130 cm may ride (with an accompanying adult, on their own cart). The mountain carts in Bikepark Semmering are for one person only.
Is a helmet required for the mountain carts?
Yes, a helmet is mandatory. You can either bring your own or rent one for €5 per person.
Is a helmet required in the bikepark? Full-face needed?
A helmet is mandatory in Bikepark Semmering. A full-face helmet is recommended.
Can I redeem the NÖ Card / Styria Card up at the summit?
No. NÖ and Styria Card benefits can only be redeemed in the valley at the main counter. There is a mountain-cart discount — simply show the card at the valley lift counter.
Is the NÖ Card valid for the lifts?
Yes, but only in summer: every NÖ Card holder receives one up-and-down ride, one ropes-park entry and one Millennium Jump per person per season free of charge.
Can the 3-hour pass be used any time?
The 3-hour pass can be used any time during day operation (9 am–4 pm). During night operation only the night pass is valid.
What’s included in a lift ticket?
A lift ticket includes use of the chairlift and the gondola as well as the slopes and the toboggan run.
Difference between a normal pass and the toboggan combo pass?
Both include lift, slopes and toboggan run. The combo pass additionally covers toboggan rental. If you bring your own sledge, simply buy a normal pass.
Can I toboggan with a dog?
Tobogganing with dogs is not permitted. In the gondola, dogs are allowed with a muzzle (dog ticket, price at reception).
Are Stuhleck ski-area tickets valid?
Day and multi-day tickets from Stuhleck (Ostalpen/regional cards) can also be used at the Semmering Hirschenkogel — but they are not sold at the Semmering.
Can I rent ski equipment?
Ski and snowboard equipment is available at Sport 2000 Puschi and at the Alpincenter Semmering.
Is the ski area reachable by public transport?
The Semmering ski area is easily reached by train. From the station the valley station is a ~20-minute walk or a shuttle-bus ride.
Does the NÖ Card cover a free ride in winter?
No, the NÖ Card is valid only in summer for one free up-and-down ride.
Tickets & prices
How much is a summer day pass?
€51 for adults, €45 for youth/seniors, €29 for children. A single up-and-down ride is €31/25/20.
Which age bands apply to the prices?
Little ones aged 0–5 go free, children are 6–14, youth 15–17, seniors 60+.
What does the All-In-Ticket include?
Your key to the summit: ropes park, up-and-down ride and a mountain-cart run — €55 instead of €87 separately (adults), kids from €28.
Are there half-day passes?
Yes. In summer: morning (9 am – 1 pm) or afternoon (1–5 pm) at €38/35/23. In winter there are morning, afternoon and 3-hour passes (€44–47 for adults).
How much is a winter ski pass?
Day pass (9 am – 4 pm): €56.50/51/28.50. Night pass (6–9 pm): €48.50/44/25. Day & night combined: €101/92.50/50.50. All winter prices plus a €3 keycard deposit.
What is the Hirschi-Family discount?
On day and night passes the third child rides free (kids aged 6–17).
Are there group rates?
Yes, from 20 people — e.g. a summer day pass at €45/40/26. Guide and coach driver go free; the winter school pass is €25 (from 10 pupils, one teacher free).
When does the gondola run in summer?
From 18 June to 6 September daily 9 am – 5 pm; in May, early June and autumn on selected days (mostly Thu–Sun), then daily again from 22 October to 1 November.
Hotel & stay
Is there a baby-changing table?
Yes — the hotel has a dedicated baby-changing room on the ground floor.
When are check-in & check-out?
Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 10:30 am. Arriving early? Leave your luggage at reception — the mountain won’t wait.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 72 hours before arrival; after that, or for no-shows, the full price is due. Groups: separate terms (free up to 28 days before arrival).
How far is the hotel from the gondola?
Eight minutes on foot — mountain by day, calm by night.
Is the wellness area included for hotel guests?
Yes: Finnish sauna, steam bath, indoor pool, redesigned gym and quiet room are free for house guests. Massages & therapies are available with advance booking.
What mountain perks do I get as a hotel guest?
Discounts on attractions & the gondola, a ski & −10% on lift passes (voucher at reception), bike hire (Bikestore, e-bikes included) and ski gear (SPORT 2000 Puschi) right on site, plus a free ski room.
Is there parking and EV charging?
Yes — free parking for all hotel guests and EV charging on site. As a guest the RUFbus also takes you free of charge for up to 7.5 km (reduced rate beyond, Semmering-Rax tariff).
Are pets welcome?
Yes, at €15 a night — the restaurant is the only no-go area.
Food on the mountain
What are the opening hours?
Breakfast from 7:00; the restaurant is open daily from 12:00 to 21:00.
Are there closing days?
Usually open daily; in the low season operating times may be limited. Times may vary — please check in advance at reception.
Is breakfast available to non-hotel guests?
Yes! Breakfast is served daily and open to all guests — Mon–Fri 7:00–10:00, Sat/Sun 7:00–10:30.
Can non-hotel guests dine in the evening?
Of course — our à-la-carte dinner is open to all guests.
Allergies or special diets?
Please let us know in advance. The menu marks common allergens and the staff is happy to help. A children’s menu is available.
Is there parking?
Yes, free parking is available for restaurant guests on the hotel grounds.
Practical questions — year-round
Can I bring a buggy — gondola & playground?
Yes — buggies travel along in the gondola, and the Hirschi playground is easily accessible: right at the top station, with short, level paths. The forest road (3 km) is paved but steadily uphill.
What if it rains — or storms?
The gondola runs in rain; thunderstorms can briefly pause operation. The ropes park closes in thunderstorms, the bag jump in rain. Plan B: SPA day pass at the Sporthotel (at reception), Grand View or the Liechtensteinhaus. Current status on the live page.
Can I pay by card? Is there an ATM?
Online in the Axess shop you can pay by card (Visa, Mastercard), EPS, instant bank transfer or PayPal. ATMs are at the valley ticket office and in the village by the roundabout.
Are there toilets & a changing table on the mountain?
Toilets at the valley station, the top station and the Liechtensteinhaus. Changing table: in the WC at the Liechtensteinhaus.
When is the last ride down?
Summer: until 5 pm. Winter: day operation until 4 pm, on night-skiing evenings until 9 pm.
Is the summit doable with a wheelchair or buggy?
The gondola takes you up with barely any steps; the Liechtensteinhaus and playground are close to the top station. The Millenniumswarte has 155 steps — though the view from the terrace below is already superb. Accessibility details to be added.
What happens to my online ticket if operations stop?
Per the T&Cs: if operations stop for reasons on the lift company side for more than 2 hours per operating day, you can choose between a pro-rata refund and an extension of your ticket validity — present your card & receipt, ideally via info@semmering.com. For the guided sunrise hike costs are refunded.
Are protectors & kids’ bikes available to rent?
Yes — the Bikestore right at the valley station rents downhill bikes including full protective gear (helmet & protectors). For kids’ sizes, best check quickly: +43 664 2414543 or semmering@bikestore.cc.
Are e-bikes allowed on the trails?
E-MTBs travel in the gondola like any bike; there are charging stations at the valley station. E-MTBs are allowed on the trails.
Are dogs allowed in summer?
In the gondola with a muzzle & lead (dog ticket €7 in summer). Welcome on hiking trails on a lead; not allowed in the ropes park or on the bike trails. Restaurant terraces: just ask ahead.
